The Cat's Meow - Witches Brew Book One by Stacey Kennedy

When a magical presence is detected around a recent string of feline slayings, Libby, an enchantress, is determined to discover who is behind the odd deaths. Being a witch gifted by the Goddess to conjure spells won’t protect her from the sexy warlock the Coven sends to assist her. Kale weaves a spell more powerful than any she’s ever seen.
While having the muscle around proves to be useful in her investigation, fighting her growing attraction for Kale is worse than a hex, especially considering the secrets she knows he’s keeping. But when her spells turn up clues that point to something far more sinister than slaughtered cats, the elusive warlock becomes the least of her worries.
Libby finds herself in the midst of an uprising. She trusts no one and isn’t safe—not from the warlocks stirring up trouble. Not from the worrisome rebellion she can’t escape. And certainly not from Kale, who is weaving a very dangerous spell over her heart.

The Cat's Meow (Witch's Brew #1)The Cat's Meow by Stacey Kennedy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

First I would like to thank the author Stacey Kennedy for giving me this book for an honest review. I enjoyed this story very much. We have Libby who is a enchantress who works at finding witches and warlocks who go down the dark path of magic her job is to find them and let the warlocks deal with them. She gets paired up with Kale a warlock new to her coven but yet she has never met before. He keeps things from her that he has to in doing what he is supposed to, but she sees it as betrayal because of her past, her father left when her mother told him she was pregnant and her first love broke her heart, both of them being warlocks, so Libby had built a very high wall where warlocks were concerned. She had a hard time fighting her attraction to Kale even though she had trust issues. They are sent looking into the deaths of cats, but end up going after an even bigger threat to the Alchemy. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series, I hope we learn more or at least hear more about Libby and Kale, who are both very strong characters.

First I would like to thank Carole Remy for a copy of this book for and honest review. Ophelie is at a point in her life when she starts having dreams and is trying to figure out why she is having them. It takes you into the world of pleasure and pain combined. Then within days she is also dealing with the suicide of a colleague and then a student. She ends up feeling like she is losing her mind while trying to figure herself out. If you enjoy erotica that explores the world of bdsm and pain then this book could be for you. For some people it may not be for them when you deal with some things like suicide and try to figure out the why of it.

First, I would like to thank Tate Jackson for this book for an honest review. As with the first book The Undead Heart, this book needs editing, grammar errors and spelling mistakes, not as many but still enough for it to be a problem for me. Again, as with the first book, I loved the story and characters. I really like what the author did with the twins and bruce, three characters I really like. I love Potter he is so funny at times, he had to deal with his brother coming and issues of being angry with him for so long, he was being pushed by others family members to deal with. The human DJ becomes a part of the family. I still am not really caring for the to be continues aspect of the books, but I love the story so much I cannot wait to read the next book. Fix the editing errors and this book would become a five star for me.

The Undead Heart by Tate Jackson

Rebecca Stockdale had enough issues in her life; parents that hated her for the strange abilities that she had been born with, she was about to move away from her sister and only friend, Bev, and she had had a really bad date that would change her forever. Just when she was about to escape the drama that she had always lived in, Richard, a vampyre, walked into her life and shattered her reality with one request; travel back in time to 1888 to stop a psychopathic vampyre bent on revenge and save the family she never knew she had. She would be joined on her journey by a band of vampyre hunters. Hunters who, centuries ago, had vowed to slay all vampyres. A vow they set aside to protect the family that they had come to love, knowing that the outcome of that decision would be an eventual battle. A battle of decapitation and blood; a battle they may not survive. She was leaving a life she would kill to get away from for a family she would gladly die to protect, but could she do it? Could she make it back alive? Did she possess the strength and courage it would take to change the past and save their future? She was about to find out. The Undead Heart is a tale of love, life, horror, humor and family and is the first novel in The Blood Thirst Series.

The Undead HeartThe Undead Heart by Tate Jackson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

First, I would like to thank Tate Jackson for this book for an honest review. First I am going to get what I didn't care for out of the way. This book had way to many spelling and grammar errors, it is major need of editing. That being said, I love the story and characters. I would have liked to have known a little more about Beck and Bev's grandmother. I like that Bev was a strong big sister for Beck when she was growing up with parents that mistreated her because she was different. I really enjoyed that the vampyres and hunters were able to become a family. The time travel was interesting especially when you get that Beck was going back to observe Jack the Ripper. I liked Richard, although I fealt her ran off in anger way to much. Potter is one of my favorite characters and he made me laugh a few times. I wasn't expecting an open ended to be continued at the end of the book, but that is ok, since I am getting ready to read book 2. I would have given the book a five if it hadn't had the grammar errors and spelling mistakes.

Frankie's Alphabet by Kenneth W. Cain

This is anything but the common alphabet book. Frankie delivers a twist that will excite and delight your child. While his vocabulary may be limited, it certainly is different, as our host in the book discovers. See what words Frankie knows and how fun they can be when illustrated. Frankie's Alphabet is targeted at younger children who are early readers. The sentences are relatively easy with illustrated pictures to help tell the story. This book would be most suitable for children up through second grade, although this may depend upon your own child's progress. The story was developed to put a twist on the common alphabet book, while introducing some new words.

Prophecy of the Female WarriorProphecy of the Female Warrior by K.A. Young
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

First I would like to thank the author K.A. Young for giving me a copy of the book for an honest review. Wow, I love this book, the characters are amazing, Anna's transistions come fast, but as her she learns her way around her new life in the paranormal world, she starts to come into herself. The book starts out really sad as she is dealing with the death and funeral of her husband of ten years. At the graveside she is drawn to Eli her first connact with a Nephilium Warrior. She becomes best friends with Elise who is the only one that will really tell her all she knows even when she is relunctant to. I really like Elise she has a good sense of humor. Nyoka turns out to be Eli's twin brother, but I am still holding judgement on him, he comes off answering her questions honestly, but that to me does not mean he is being completely open and honest, I will have to see how the story progresses in book two. I love the book and am looking forward to reading more, great job K.A. Young.

First I would like to thank the author Nicole Grotepas for giving me this book for an honest review. I enjoyed the book very much. The main character Rhetta was annoying off and on, but then she was a teenager. I had a little bit of a hard time with the love at first meet thing that started out the book. I like how Nicole built the world, and everything was explained wRll like with the artificial intelligence etc.. without going all technical to where a person feels like the are going cross-eyed as some sci-fi authors tend to do. I really like Hemingway, Rhetta's android boyfriend, who is the reason she finally says why is it this way and goes about finding out and fighting the system. I liked Mei her crazy best friend, but sometimes she was over the top crazy. I enjoyed the ending of the book, good job Nicole.

Recognition by Kate Vane

Nat Keane never forgot her first murder. Sandie Thurston was killed and mutilated in her own bed. Five-year-old Amy lay beside her, soaked in her mother’s blood.

Nat was the first police officer on the scene. She was the family liaison officer who got close to the family. Too close. When a man was convicted, she walked away, lonely and broken.

Ten years on she has another life. She has a job she loves counselling trauma victims and a home with her partner, Dylan, a criminal lawyer. So when Martin, husband of the murdered Sandie, asks her to work with him and Amy, why does she agree to go back?

Amy's evidence was key to getting a conviction. Now the media are hinting that she got it wrong. Martin is tortured by a guilt he won’t explain. At fifteen, Amy is alternately needy and hostile – a devoted daughter who deceives her father, a sheltered child who can’t stop taking risks.

As Nat is drawn into the family's secrets, is she helping them find the truth or complicit in their lies? Who did kill Sandie? And why, just when Nat needs Dylan's support, is he distracted by a controversial case of his own?

Recognition is a compelling psychological mystery set in and around Leeds, England.

First I would like to thank Lanie Jordan for giving me a copy of this book for an honest review. The book is apply named Breed of Envy, since their are several instances in this book, where people are envious and treating Jade badly because of it. Jade now knows she has demon dna, which explains alot, and she is still finding out things about herself along the way. She gets closer with her best friend Linc, slowly develops into boyfriend/girlfriend mode. Which is nice they didn't just jump into that kind of relationship, it developed. Her other best friend is Tasha and is good for her since she is opinionated and keeps her on her toes. She has a new cheerleader type enemy who hates her for no reason. Rumors start to fly and most the kids at CGE start acting rediculous towards Jade based on the rumors and Director Greene finally sets the record straight with what happened to Jade with the vampire demon. It helps with some of the teenagers but not all, typical life stuff, you have your people who are oh ok, and the other that just want to keep picking at stuff that don't matter anyway. There were a few errors, spelling etc, that need edited. But over all the story was great. I can't wait to find out what happens to Jade in phase 3, but I will have to. Great job Lanie, keep it up, look forward to the next book in the series.

Alyssa, woke up surrounded by dead bodies, not knowing where she is, missing memories. This book kept me hooked from the get go. Alyssa saves women and makes many friends on her quest to find out who she is and why she is in this world of magic so unlike her world. In the end she has to make a very tough decision and it was quite a surprise. She makes very good friends along the way, I like each character, a couple keep you wondering whose side they are really on. There were some editing problems, but it can be fixed and the one that stands out the most is in chapter 40: " There is life in them yet," Mia said, rubbing her arms as if to ward off gooseflesh. "Their souls are trapped here." This is a major need of fixing because Lady blood had already killed this character unfortunately. I strongly like this book and I would like to read more books by this author. I would also like to thank Dave Ferraro the author for giving me this book for an honest review through my goodreads group - Shut Up & Read.

Her trip through hell to save her fathers soul is very interesting and she learns though the whole experience that hell is not a place she wants to end up. It seems Gabe makes sure she learns what she needs to even though she gets mad that he keeps things from her because she needs to learn them on her own. I am looking forward to the next book in the series, great job Don.

The Insurgent's Journal (Phantom Squadron #3)The Insurgent's Journal by Don A. Martinez
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this book, it kept me hooked until the end. I like the characters, I was able to feel for them, especially Alanna. I thought is was odd how Don inserted himself in the story as a reporter, I do not recall reading an author doing that before. It wasn't a bad thing, just odd to me. He is good at adding in politics that make the whole story feel real. I was at a loss when Alanna was at the refuge and the council wanted to talk to her, when instead of going in for what most would think would be a question answer session and gave a speech. The end left me wanting more, which is a good thing since I am going on to review the next one. Good job Don, I look forward to reading more.
