A Little Bit Scandalous by Robyn DeHart

Interview Questions

1)      First, tell us about yourself – where  you live, your family, and those sorts of details.

Well, I’m a Texan, born and raised. Shortly after I got married we moved and lived in Tennessee for 4 years, but then returned to Central Texas and we love it here (even though it’s ridiculously hot this time of year). My husband and I adopted our two girls from the foster-care system here in Texas (great way to build your family, by the way!) and though I still consider myself a full-time writer, I’m really more of a full-time mommy who writes in her spare moments.  We have 2 cats that are spoiled and demanding. I’ve been writing for a long time, A Little Bit Scandalous is my 11th full-length historical romance and I’m contracted for 5 more. Phew!

2)      How long have  you been writing?

I’m one of those who has been writing forever. I wrote short stories and terrible poetry growing up. I didn’t start writing romance seriously though until after I graduated from college so sometime in 1997 and I sold in 2004.

3)      Do you have a favorite place to write?

Panera’s. 

4)      Why did you decide to write A Little Bit Scandalous ?

Well, it’s the 3rd book in my Forbidden Love series. I got the idea for the series – 3 couples all falling in love amidst some taboo aspect. I’d always loved the guardian/ward hook so I started with that and the story idea snowballed from there.

5)      Who is your favorite character in your book and why?

Wow, that’s like asking me to pick a favorite kid. I will say that I really enjoyed writing Roe, he has a wicked sense of humor and he’s droll, which I really appreciate. He was a lot of fun.

6)      How about your least favorite character?  What makes them less appealing to you?

I’ll say the villain and leave it at that – don’t want to give any spoilers away.

7)      Do you proofread/edit your own books or do you get someone to do that for you?

Yes, I do extensive revisions on my books on my own and then get revisions from my editor. So a lot goes into the writing.

8)      What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

Spending time with my family, watching movies, reading. I also love to play games, in particular card games – we’re big Hand & Foot players at my house.

9)      Do you read much and if so who are your favorite authors?

I don’t get to read as much as I’d like, but I do read and I have a slew of favorite authors. My go-to authors are Suzanne Enoch, Teresa Medeiros, JD Robb, Allison Brennan and Jim Butcher.

10)   What question do you wish that someone would ask about your book, but nobody has? Write it out here, then answer it.

That’s a hard one, y’all always do such a great job asking me questions. Maybe, what’d I’d be if I wasn’t a writer…

To answer, it’s hard to imagine myself without the writer inside, I even love to teach writing. But I think I’d be pretty great at being a professional organizer – I love containers and setting up systems to structure and streamline the house as you can tell if any of you follow me on Pinterest.

Thanks so much for having me.
